Case 2
X-Ray showing dislocated hip Old Acetabular Cup after removal
75 years old male presented with dislocated total hip replacement and sciatic nerve palsy. He was operated twice at some other hospital but both the times his hip was dislocated. Patients was almost bed ridden for last 6-7 months. His limb length was also shorten by one and half inch. When we examined the X-Ray, we found that the uncemented cup was vertically oriented.
After explaining all the pros and cons of the procedure, patient was convinced for the surgery. During the surgery, we removed the uncemented cup & found that the Acetabulam was deficient on postero-superior aspect. We prepared Acetabulam by taking Tricortical Iliac Graft and fixed it with 2 cancellous screws. After that uncemented acetabulam cup was put in proper orientation, head reduced and stability was checked.
Patient was walking the next day without pain. His limb length has been restored.
